The alkaline mineral water healed his stomach ailment, leading him to send samples to two independent testing laboratories in New York and Chicago. Capt. Frazier capitalized on California’s real estate boom by plating his farm for a city he named Carlsbad. Restoration and re-drilling were conducted on the well from 1993 to 1995.

By this time, Ludvik had played an instrumental role in establishing a sister-city relationship between Karlovy Vary and Carlsbad, Calif.
